TCP Acquisition and GUI Applications
When the measurement device is on the network, the acquisition program is a TCP client, a small server, or both. MatDeck TCP widgets are dropped onto a form the same way as a chart or a button. The widget owns the socket. The document owns what to do with the bytes: split a line into channels, push a sample into a plot, or raise an alarm on a SCADA tag.
That split keeps the network code out of the measurement logic. Changing a host or a port is a property of the widget. Changing the scaling of a channel stays in the script that already handled the local DAQ device.
A finished TCP panel can be saved with the document and opened again on another PC, or compiled into an executable for a machine that only needs to watch the remote device.
